The scrapbooks dating between c.1890 and 1954. The content consists mainly of articles and advertisements from the two local newspapers – The Hamilton Advertiser and the Carluke and Lanark Gazette, however other sources have been used. e.g. the Bulletin newspaper. In addition to newspaper material the scrapbooks occasionally contain other original material such as advertising or political flyers. A fuller description of the history and content of the scrapbooks is in the introduction to the index.
